Eligibility for Insurance


Members

To be eligible for GeoCare International the principal applicant must be an active, full-time member of a participating association age 74 or less.  (Coverage terminates at age 84).

For the purpose of this program, expatriate means any insured member residing and working in a country other than the United States.  Also eligible are key Local Nationals living in countries other than the United States of America.

Enrollment

To enroll for coverage under the GeoCare International program, members of the association need only to complete and submit an application form to Rutherfoord International, Inc., along with a proof of membership.

Effective date of Coverage

Coverage becomes effective at the time of the insurance company's confirmation of insurability. Application for life, A&D, or Long Term Disability submitted on or prior to the 15th day of the month will have an effective date of the first day of that month. The Medical underwriting timeframe depends on the medical history listed on the application. Turnaround can be as quick as one day or as long as one month. HTH commitment is to respond to a submission in writing within 3 business days.

Portability of Coverage

Insured members can maintain their coverage under GeoCare International regardless of a change in Employer and/or employment.  Eligibility under this provision is defined by the membership status of the principal insured, his or her professional status, and geographical location.

Dependent or Eligible Dependent

An eligible member can enroll his or her eligible dependents located anywhere in the world, including the U.S., if they are not living abroad with the principal insured.  For the purpose of the HTH medical program, an eligible dependent is defined as: 

         The members lawful spouse

         Unmarried natural child, stepchild or legally adopted child who has not yet reached age 19.

         Own or spouses own unmarried child, of any age, enrolled prior to age 26, who is incapable of self support due to continuing mental retardation or physical disability and who is chiefly dependent on the Eligible Participant.

Unmarried child, from their 19th to their 22nd birthday who is a full-time student attending an accredited college, university, vocational or technical school, and who is fully dependent upon the Eligible Participant for support.  

Applicable US apply if the dependent resides in the US.

Effective Date of Dependent Coverage

Coverage under the GeoCare International program for eligible dependents will become effective upon effective upon the same date of coverage of insured member, provided that an application is submitted and premium paid on their behalf at the time of insured member's original application.

Enrollment of Newly Eligible Dependents

To enroll a new spouse or newly eligible child, the insured member must submit a completed application form to Rutherfoord International, Inc.

    Marriage - Insured member must submit an enrolment form within 31 days following the date of marriage and provide proof of such.

    Newborn - Insured member must submit an enrollment form within 31 days following the date of birth.

    Adoption - Insured member must submit an enrollment form within 31 days following the date of adoption and provide proof of such.

    Guardianship - Insured member must submit an enrollment form within 31 days following appointment by court of legal guardianship of child.

Late Enrollment

If an insured fails to enroll an eligible dependent at the time of original application, the dependent will be considered "a late enrollee" and a proof of good health will be required to provide coverage under the insured member's insurance certificate. Coverage will not commence until the underwriter acknowledges the proof of good health.

Termination of Insurance for Members

Member's insurance will cease on the earliest date below:

  1. the date a member is no longer eligible for this program, or the date you cease to be a member of the Association,
  2. the last day for which premium payment has been made,
  3. the date the Master Policy with the Association is canceled, or
  4. the date a member is no longer actively at work for a reason other than a disability covered by this program.

Termination of Insurance for Dependents

Insurance for all of your dependents will cease on the earliest date below:

  1. the date a member's insurance ceases,
  2. the date a member ceases to be eligible for dependent coverage,
  3. the last day for which a member have made any required contribution for the coverage,
  4. the date dependent coverage is cancelled.

The insurance for any dependent will cease on the date that the dependent is no longer eligible.

At the termination of benefits, depending on the applicable rules, insured members will have the right to either continue coverage (through a continuation program) or to convert (through conversion) to a long term policy.
